Last week I had the opportunity to attend The Big Toy Book's Baby Palooza at the Delta Children headquarters in New York City which was hosted by Joey Fortman, Charlene DeLoach, Laurie Schacht and Reyne Rice. There, attendees learned the 2013 is the year to be safety smart, Parent smart, technology smart and baby smart!
As a parent, safety is my first priority when considering a product for my child so I appreciate what these companies are doing and how they are utilizing technology in their products.
The First Years iAlert Convertible Car Seat
As soon as we got the Delta headquarters, I pretty much gravitated towards the The First Years True Fit iAlert Convertible Car Seat. This revolutionary new car seat monitoring system is designed to alert parents of potentially life-threatening situations via their smartphone if their child:
- Rides in a rear facing position not installed at the desired angle
- Becomes unbuckled while the vehicle is in motion
- Is left in the car seat when the vehicle is not in motion
- Is at risk due to elevated or freezing ambient temperature in the car seat
The car seat can be used from 5 to 35 lbs rear-facing and from 23 to 65 lbs forward-facing. Other features include a removable head rest designed to help manage head control. One of my favorite features besides for the monitoring system is the no-rethread harness that is incredibly easy to adjust!
